In India the blood moon won’t be visible as its timing is 3:14 pm to 6:23 pm. The partial stage of the eclipse will start at 3 pm onwards. Where as the initial phase will end at 4:58 pm.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon gets between Earth and the sun, and the moon casts a shadow over Earth, whereas, a lunar eclipse or Chandra Grahan occurs when Earth comes in between Moon and Sun. When the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are not fully aligned, thus the Earth obstructs some of the Sun’s light from reaching the Moon. It can cause a slight darkening of the moon.

This year the moon will be closest to Earth, so there is going to be a super moon, red moon, and a total lunar eclipse. According to NASA, the Blood Moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse when the Earth aligns itself between the moon and the sun.

“When this happens, the only light that reaches the moon’s surface is from the edges of the Earth’s atmosphere. The air molecules from Earth’s atmosphere scatter out most of the blue light. The remaining light reflects onto the moon’s surface with a red glow, making the moon appear red in the night sky.”

The total lunar eclipse of 2021 will be visible in South Asia, East Asia, Australia, much of North America, South America, Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Antarctica.
