Updates; Till now 6 deaths from Tauktae might intensify more

As the cyclone Tauktae intensified today two deaths have been reported from Goa. The cyclone has affected Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Coastal areas of Kerala and Karnataka have been hit severely. Many homes are reported to be broken and damaged by the high tides. The speed of the Cycle which was 9 kmph till yesterday as predicted by our scientists it has intensified.

Cyclonic storm Tauktae has intensified into a “very severe cyclonic storm” and is expected to cross Gujarat coast by early Tuesday. According to the India Meteorological Department. Tauktae could bring heavy rainfall to some areas, triggering flash floods and landslides over the coastal districts of Kerala, Karnataka and Goa, officials said. More than 50 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are currently on duty in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

In Goa nearly 500 small and big trees have been reported to be fallen. And the power supply in Goa has been effected through out the state. The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told to Ani on Sunday evening that the power supply has been disrupted through out state. It will take two days to restore to the normal conditions. And the power supply in the Covid-19 hospital is not disrupted.

With more than 500 minor and large trees have been destroyed in the storm. The death toll in Goa has raised to two till now. CM Pramod Sawant told that the death toll may still rise. With mire than 50 houses damaged.

Massive deployment of ICG assets towards preventive measures for cyclone ‘Tauktae’ has translated into 37 ship days & 75 aircraft hours at sea till date. Ensuring safe return of over 5600 boats, alerting/safe routeing of 335 merchant vessels & timely rescue of 6 personnel: Indian Coast Guard

40 Coast Guard Disaster Relief Teams with inflatable boats, lifejackets are on standby. All along the western coast for undertaking disaster response operations. Medical teams & ambulances have also been kept stand by for swift mobilisation: Indian Coast Guard

Home Minister Amith Shah holds meeting

HM @AmitShah chairs a review meeting with Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Administrator of Daman & Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli, to assess preparedness of States/ UT and Central Ministries/ Agencies concerned, to deal with Cyclone Tauktae.

The Cyclone has passed through Goa and might reach Mumbai and Gujarat tomorrow. The speed of the Cyclone has increased drastically with more than 150 to 180 kmph. With This speed its excepted that the Cyclone will hit Gujarat on Tuesday early morning.

  3. The Cyclone Tauktae will be in its peak when it reaches Gujarat.
