Raju Srivastava, who passed away in Delhi at the age of 58, knew how to tickle a funny bone. In fact, he was one of the pioneers of what became stand-up comedy in India and paved the way for many others to follow. Known for his kindness and humour even off camera, Raju had big plans in the OTT space before he got admitted for his sudden heart attack on August 10.
RAJU SRIVASTAVA’S BIG DREAM
A source close to the comedian tells one IndiaToday.in that Raju had plans to produce a show about stand-up comedy and pitch it to a big OTT platform. An insider close to Raju tells one IndiaToday.in, “He had big dreams even at this stage in his life. He was looking at exploring the OTT space and producing a comedy show that gives platform to upcoming and budding standup artistes. He wasn’t very keen on doing films and being on long outdoor schedules. He had discussed this plan of producing this show with a few friends.”
KRUSHNA ABHISHEK REMEMBERS RAJU
Raju’s close friend and his fellow comedian Krushna Abhishek spoke to one India Today.in on his death and revealed, “ This is very sad. I really prayed for Raju Bhai. I have known him since I was 18, when I was an assistant in direction. It was my first film when I started working and he was one of the actors. I started interacting with him since then. I have worked with him in films as well. We have done many shows together and this is really sad. My condolences to the family.”
