CSK Playing XI vs KKR – IPL 2022: Newly-appointed skipper of CSK Ravindra Jadeja on his very 1st day in office will take some big decisions. The IPL 2022 opening game vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is scheduled for today at 7.30PM. Jadeja is all set to hand IPL Debut caps to two players i.e Devon Conway & 19 year old Rajvardhan Hangargekar.
Conway will take place of Moeen Ali in team who currently is under quarantline.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar: His impressive seam-bowling prowess and hard-hitting abilities were on display during the U-19 World Cup.
And while he did not earn a spot in the Maharashtra Ranji Trophy team, CSK managed to rope him in for INR 1.5 crore after a three-team bidding war & is now likely to hand him debut cap
Decision 1 – Who takes Moeen Ali’s Place? Moeen Ali got his visa late and has finally arrived in India. The England all rounder is currently in Quarantine and will the opening match vs KKR.
Jadeja needs to decide – who takes Moeen Ali’s place in XI? In all likelihood Ali’s place in XI will go to Dwayne Bravo who otherwise would have to sit out of XI.
Deepak Chahar hasn’t yet recovered from his injury. Dwaine Pretorius will only be available after South Africa’s ODI series against Bangladesh, meaning he is likely to miss the first game as well as he will exit the quarantine on match-day.
Ruturaj-Conway to open – Amongst the available players, Ruturaj Gaikwad is all fit and ready for the first match. New recruit Devon Conway will be his opening partner while CSK will have Robin Uthappa at No 3 instead of Moeen Ali.
CSK Playing XI vs KKR
- Ruturaj Gaikwad
- Devon Conway
- Robin Uthappa
- Ambati Rayudu
- Ravindra Jadeja (CAPTAIN)
- Shivam Dube
- Dwayne Bravo
- MS Dhoni (WK)
- Rajvardhan Hangargekar
- Chris Jordan
- Adam Milne
Batting line-up: With Moeen Ali all but out of the 1st match, Robin Uthappa will be promoted to No 3 with Ambati Rayudu at No 4. Ravindra Jadeja will be the preferred No 5 ahead of seam-bowling all-rounder Shivam Dube at No 6. Dwayne Bravo and former skipper MS Dhoni will occupy 7th and 8th positions.
Bowling Combination: However, it is the bowling department where CSK will lack the edge with Deepak Chahar out injured. While Rajvardhan Hangargekar could be Jadeja’s choice and dark horse with batting ability, he would like to capitalise on the swings on offer at the Wankhede and pick Adam Milne and Chris Jordan as the two frontline pacers.
Mitchell Santner is likely to warm the bench as Jadeja is unlikely to go with two left-arm spinners. With Moeen Ali all but out, Mumbai’s young leg-spinner Prashant Solanki could get the call-up.
