Former MP G. Madhegowda (92), who was receiving treatment at the hospital for several days, is no more. Madhegowda died at KM Doddi Multi Specialty Hospital in Maddur Taluk in Mandya district.
Senior politicians of Mandya district, former Lok Sabha members and Mandya district farmer welfare committee chairman G. Madhegowda have been receiving treatment in hospital for several days. But today he died in hospital. The treatment he was receiving was did not benefit him nad he had to leave his soul today. He had dedicated his life to Kaveri Protest. And hence he was popular in the District.
He worked with SM Krishna in the politics of Mandya district as a legislator, Lok Sabha member and pro-peasant fighter. The Gandhi Bhavan was built in Mandya. SM Krishna, who had earlier been elected as a member of the MLA for the first time with Madhegowda, wished the health of his long-time comrade a speedy recovery.
Various dignitaries including Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa have condoled the death of veteran politician, former Lok Sabha member and former minister G. Madhagowda. As a Gandhian, the Madhagowadas who followed Gandhiji’s principles and ideals throughout life were always at the forefront of the Kaveri struggle. He was actively involved in peasant struggles. Kirugavalu worked as a MLA for six consecutive terms from the Assembly constituency.
With his death, we have lost a farmer and a populist fighter. In a message of mourning, the chief ministers said that they pray for the peace of the soul of the Lord and for the grieving spirit of his family members and huge fans.
Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah also condoled that G. Madhagowda, a companion of peasants and laborers who were fighting for the water and water of the Kaveri River and the land of Kannada, was my best friend. His death has saddened me greatly.
