Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Ambedkar. He was born on April 14, 1891. This day is also celebrated as ‘Equality Day’ and ‘Gyan Diwas’, because Ambedkar, who fought for equality throughout his life, is considered a symbol of equality and knowledge. In the year 2015, this day was declared a public holiday across the country. In the notification of holiday issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions of the Central Government, it has been said that the birthday of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar by the Central Government on friday, April 14, 2023, will be a holiday across India.

Babasaheb was also awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award, posthumously on 31 March 1990. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was an Indian politician and economist who played an important role in the formulation of the Constitution of India. Being an advocate of comprehensive human rights in India, Ambedkar tried his best to remove the caste system from India.
