National-award winning actor Sanchari Vijay (38), who sustained major injuries in a road accident in Bengaluru on Saturday night, breathed his last at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Monday.
Although the actor had emergency surgery to stem the internal brain bleed, he was declared brain dead by the doctors treating him on Monday. His family has decided to donate his organs. His brother Siddesh has said, “The brain stem has stopped functioning, so we have decided to donate his organs. Vijay always believed in serving society, which we are fulfilling by donating his organs.
According to reports, the actor was riding pillion on a bike with a friend when the accident occured. The bike skidded on the wet road and collided with an electric pole. Vijay sustained major trauma to his head and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
The actor rose to fame with his performance in the 2015 movie Naanu Avanalla Avalu, which fetched him a Best actor national award. During the lockdown, he was very active with social work and was closely associated with Usire team, to provide oxygen for COVID patients. He also did his bit to the needy by amplifying information about COVID resources through his social media pages.

It is reported that the incident happened when the actor was heading back to his home on a bike, after visiting his friend’s home on Saturday night. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. The actor has suffered injuries on the right portion of the brain and in the thigh region. Speaking to a news channel, neurosurgeon Arun Nayak has said, “The health condition of Sanchari Vijay is very critical. As he had blood clot in the brain, we have performed a surgery, the next 48 hours is going to be critical.”
