Mysterious lights were seen in the sky over north Indian states left many people puzzled. However, the defence sources have now confirmed that it was a satellite.

Photos and videos of a line of bright lights darting through in the night sky were shared on social media by several users. Earlier media reports have suggested that it was Elon Musk-led ‘Starlink’ satellites.

The rare astronomical event was witnessed by locals in northern states including Punjab today.

The Falcon 9 rocket, which is partially reusable, has had its first-stage boosters launched into space as part of several missions, including five Starlink missions.

The array of Starlink satellites, operated by SpaceX, offer low-latency internet coverage in remote areas of several countries to participants of their test program.
